The Bluebonnet Festival

The Bluebonnet has been the Texas State Flower since the early 20th century. Blue flowers are incredibly uncommon in nature, and the Bluebonnet itself is exclusive to Texas. The flowers are only in bloom from March to May, so if you want a chance to see them you better book during this time of year!

Ennis, Texas is known as the best place to see bluebonnets in Texas. The Bluebonnet Festival runs on the second weekend in April to celebrate the full bloom of these beautiful flowers. Come find the fun at Ennis's hallmark event.

Bluebonnet Trail

When you stay at Bluebonnet Glamping, you'll likely see some of these flowers on the trails and roads surrounding Ennis. There are around 40 miles of planned driving routes taking you through a sea of flowery blue.

With so much trail to explore, it can be kind of overwhelming and hard to chart a route you want to take. Check out this map for an expansive look at the trails. Keep in mind that it may change from year to year.

Destruction Derby

Ticket Prices: Cash Only
Adults (10 and older): $15
Children (6-9): $5
Young Children (5 and under): FREE

When you arrive at the festival, you may expect that every activity will revolve around the flower. While you wouldn't be faulted for thinking that, most of the activities in town are good old-fashioned Texas fun!

The Destruction Derby is a loud and exciting show where you can watch giant trucks smash clunky cars to smithereens. You can bring your own beverages, but no bottles are allowed.

Bluebonnet Shows and Parades

There are a couple of shows and parades you'll see come through town over the festive weekend. They are all free to watch, but may have costs if you want to register yourself.

Pet Parade

People from around the country enter their pets into the annual pet parade that runs through the heart of Ennis. Because Ennis is surrounded by farmland, you see all sorts of pets you might not find in other places.

Dogs and cats are obviously allowed, but the Bluebonnet pet parade has shown off a menagerie of animals, even including small ones like hamsters and snakes. It's a fun attraction for the whole family.

Car Show

If you have a car guy (or girl) in your vacation group, then you'll have to check out the car show too! You'll see some vintage classics rolling down the street.

Those who have a fancy vehicle of their own might want to show it off themselves. In that case, you'll need to register your car with the car show runners.
